Enhancing Caravan Safety

Tuson Australia

Comparing Tuson Sway Control &
AL-KO Electronic Stability Control

Being passionate caravanners ourselves, ensuring the safety of our family and customers when we’re on the road is our top priority. With more and more of Australians realising just how much of Australia there is to explore, there is a growing number of new caravanners every year. Many of our new customers do not have experience towing caravans safely and the considerations to factor in, such as proper weight distribution and managing ball weight. That’s why safety features such as a reverse camera & AL-KO Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are standard features on all Grand City Caravans.

Our ongoing commitment to research and development as well as implementing innovative technologies to give our customers the best (and safest!) caravanning experience has brought our attention to the Tuson Sway Control – the most advanced, asymmetric, sway control system available for caravans.

That’s why we’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Tuson Australia, the leader in towable safety technology. So what’s the difference between the Tuson Sway Control and the AL-KO Electronic Sway Control?

Tuson Sway Control (TSC)

Pros:

  1. Proactive Sway Mitigation: Tuson Sway Control utilises advanced sensors to detect sway conditions before they escalate, applying precise braking to individual wheels to counteract sway and maintain stability.
  2. Asymmetric Braking: Tuson Sway Control monitors side to side caravan movement (yaw) and applies braking force to one side of the caravan, directly reducing caravan sway with greater stability control and less speed loss.
  3. Quick Response Time: With its rapid response capabilities, the Tuson Sway Control can effectively address sway in real-time, providing added peace of mind during your travels.
  4. Compatible with 3T Suspension (Tuff Ride & Cruisemaster): Ideal for single axle caravans with an ATM over 2.8T, Tuson Sway Control offers enhanced stability and control, particularly during challenging driving scenarios.

Cons:

  1. Additional Cost: While TSC is a valuable safety upgrade, it does come with an additional cost compared to standard braking systems. Contact your dealer for pricing.

AL-KO Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Pros:

  1. Proven Effectiveness: AL-KO Electronic Stability Control is a trusted technology, designed to detect and mitigate caravan sway by applying brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine torque.
  2. Standard Installation: We install AL-KO Electronic Stability Control as a standard feature on all our caravan models, ensuring that every customer benefits from this essential safety feature.

Cons:

  1. Symmetric Braking Only: AL-KO Electronic Stability Control will only apply brakes to the caravan wheels at the same time (not independently).
  2. Not Compatible with All Models: While AL-KO ESC is suitable for many caravan configurations, certain models may not be compatible, limiting its availability for some customers.

Our Approach: Offering the Best of Both Worlds

At Grand City Caravans, we understand that safety is non-negotiable when it comes to caravanning. That’s why we’re committed to providing our customers with the most advanced safety technologies available.
